Rock Hill, South Carolina – Re:Build Composite Resources, a leading manufacturer of thermoset composite structural components and assemblies, is pleased to announce a significant capability expansion with the addition of a state-of-the-art Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) work cell at its South Carolina facility. The addition of this new RTM cell further expands Re:Build Composite Resources’ breadth of composite processing technologies to support customers in the growing aerospace and defense industry.
Re:Build Composite Resources chose a premium work cell with heated and cooled 4 ft. x 12 ft. platens with 18-inch daylight, which can also be split into individually controlled, 4 ft. x 6 ft. zones to provide process and part flexibility. This work cell also features ‘industry 4.0’ data collection capabilities, which will be integrated into Re:Build’s manufacturing data analytics platform. Adding RTM to our suite of offerings positions us to serve a broader market than ever, leveraging our signature breadth of expertise to become a one-stop shop for a more extensive range of composite solutions.
RTM, which utilizes a closed-mold tooling process, offers numerous benefits, including improved control of part geometry, improved resin distribution, higher fiber volumes, and higher production rates. This results in components with tighter tolerances that enhance downstream assembly consistency, reduce scrap and rework, and boost overall system performance. RTM is a manufacturing solution that supports our customers’ goals relating to quality, efficiency, and reliability.
“We are thrilled to introduce advanced RTM capabilities into our portfolio and expand our offerings to better serve our customers,” said Paul Baxter, General Manager of the Re:Build Composite Resources site. “We have invested in the latest technology and infrastructure to ensure that we have cutting-edge processes and capacity in place to meet the performance and volume requirements for our customers in the aerospace and defense industry.”
